My son who is now in his mid 40s cannot believe that back in the 60s I purchased petrol for 3 shillings and 4 and a half pence a gallon. Yes to you young folks that was for a gallon. In decimal currency that equates to about 17 pence per gallon. We think the good old days but I only earned £7.00 a week.
