Good afternoon all.  I am currently resurrecting some original headlamp glasses that have been glued into rims with lashings of black silicon. I have scraped away the bulk but is there a product which will remove that which is stuck to the glass?

B&Q sell a silicone remover spray - I’d also try nail polish remover

There is a gel available in a tube that softens silicone mastic, allowing it to be removed. I have had a tube in the garage close on 4 years now for a round tuit job I didn't get to yet... so I can't say if it is any good!

I would suggest acetone or nail polish remover, and (on glass) a mild abrasive pad (such as used for dish washing) or even wire wool.

Petrol's always worked for me. It softens the silicone such that it can be peeled/scraped off. Brake Cleaner works as well.

I’ve used cellulose thinners successfully in the past!  When I say cellulose it is actually a “universal” gun wash thinner.

Acetone is no good for silicone as it flashes off too fast. ( We use both at work in the marine industry )
You can get silicone remover from the likes of screwfix.
I got two small bottles from Lidl .
Loctite do a spray gasket remover 7200
