It may partially explain the rakish angle of the bonnet, this happens when the early painted cowl has been fitted to a slightly later 29 type car. It all goes downhill, so to speak.

The body and hood etc. are not AE, however.

CJ registrations reached 9999 in 1927 - so the car is/was too early be an AE.

There's a good deal of A7 (special) footage in "Now and Forever" (1956) & the car plays a meaningful role in the story. 
Also a cameo appearance by Hattie Jacques in a remarkably similar A7 special (with a large dog in the passenger seat...)

The two cars appear to be one and the same, a Cambridge special with Cambridge wings.  The position of the screen wiper and the hood bag detail are unusual which points to it being the same car.   We can only imagine the laughter and language that would have accompanied Hattie Jacques getting into the car, that's before the large dog jumped in!

I'm sure you're right Malcolm. In the film the two protagonists (who are eloping in the A7) stop at a petrol station and, from a distance, witness a strikingly similar car (Hattie's) being pulled over by the police - this alerts them to the fact that their car is being searched for, and they slip away on a side road. It's over in 30 seconds and I have little doubt it's the same car with a few bits moved about or re-painted for the scene. Including the radiator cap being turned to 90 degrees!

Blink & you'll miss them, but there are one or two background appearances of A7's in "Reach for the Sky".
I'm struggling to read that reg. - but if it's GU 6131 (?) the car still survives.
