Difference with spark plugs

I agree Roger that the plug position is poor which as you say is a puzzle and they got almost it right on the 12/4 as well. I stand by what I have said Ruby heads can be pretty much trouble free but will quickly hi-light any failings. I will add that I had numerous issues with Ruby heads in the early days, however once I properly understood the importance of correct mixture, plug grades and bore condition I seem to have have pretty much eliminated those issues. I would suggest that rich mixture is as big contributory factor for Ruby heads fouling plug as oil past the rings, unless of course we are talking about worn bores, eve then good picture will help matters. Remember also modern fuels affect mixture, and we have 90 years of wear in the jets so it is hardly surprising the most sevens have less than optimal combustion.
