A pleasure Bill.    Not sure which side of the border you are, but could the problem have been caused by mischievous "border Raiders" sneaking into workshop while their friends tried to make off with the animals...............got to be careful here as half the family is tartan.....but I am not saying which side of border  Big Grin

Just having a look at a Bacon Slicer and noted an A1 number on the black CAV cover. I see in Bill's pics there is something similar which I can't read.
They are stamped - are they car numbers?

One other looks like a date, MBE most Lucas parts have dates on them.

Ps I have found the larger part of the commutator cover
But don’t seem to have the clip.

Has anyone got a spare one , or a couple of good photos of the clip itself
