Refer the earlier discussion on SU Carburettors . 

The unvented cap wasn't introduced until post war and all earlier caps were fitted without a fibre washer.

The OM had no damper piston.

I'm equally painfully tempted to suggest that you must purchase extra small ones Charles if they are the size of a finger on a rubber glove?!
