it's worth watching them on the vimeo feed - even better quality and there are some other nice films there (911 etc) - wonder what the relationship to film-maker is too?

"It is basically an old model aero engine, adapted with a small ball race set into the wooden prop, nutted up tight onto the crankshaft spindle allowing it to spin very freely in the wind as one pootles along. The engine is then held on to the rad surround with a wing nut and ali bracket, making removal easy for access to the bonnet...it is based on an old ad that I saw from a 40's magazine - sold as a device to keep the flies out of ones' teeth...!!..mmmmm."

I'm certain I have seen a photo of a Seven racer at Brooklands in the 1920s fitted with a Rotherham air pump which presumably was used to pressurise the fuel tank. These were commonly used on aircraft of the First World War for that purpose. Here is a photo of one.
