Hello people
Anyone got any details for the C35M dynamo.
In particular the electrical connections.
Or any other info.
Woodrow brushes seem different to mine.
I have a case with field coils from a C35A are these the same ?

Also I think Woodrow shows a felt seal
Not fitted to mine or obvious place to fit ?

Do these help?

My sketch on the earlier post shows the seal position. The C35A and C35M cases with field coils are interchangeable, the C35A has two tapped holes for mounting the field resistor & fuse box the C35M has only one for the terminal block.

Finally got the dynamo back together.
Tested for continuity the field coils.
Test armature segments
BUT ONLY GETTING 2.5volts at about 1000 rpm
Any ideas ?

Further to my last post.
I only have one wire from the field coils.
In the diagram there is a connection to the 3rd brush ?

Dont really understand your question.

Cant recall if dynamos have yet been yet extensively covered on the present site, so....

As diagram one end of field windings exits dynamo, the other connects to 3rd brush. (Unless someone has converted to 2 brush operation and connected the internal end directly to "earth" with the 3rd brush unconnected?) 

With the brushes out of contact should be same very low resistance between adjacent commutator segments (digital meter).

To test operation, the field exit terminal and main output terminal are joined (the winter charge situation) but not to any load. Voltage to earth considerably exceeds 6. Must not be permanently operated in this state with the field linked but no battery load. 
(In practice in car, the 3rd brush is usually some distance from the earth brush if ammeter ouput is not to exceed 8-10 amps, lights off. Operated as two brush currents would be excessive)

Any info.on reinsulating and connecing field coils.
I've not managed to do this with the coils in the case, so I remove the pole pieces & coils by using two G clamps to pull the pole pieces into the case keeping them off the coils and undo the pole securing screws with a very good Facom ratchet screwdriver. One of these days I'll make a tool for the job as in the photo, those screws are tight. With the coils removed unsolder the connection between them, before it breaks, then you can clean, repair and re insulate the coils. Or you can buy new coils from Ian Bancroft.

Why do the attachments appear in the reverse order to which I selected them?
