Engine locked
#11
Tiger, Martin was right - stop and think what you have done since the crank last turned freely (and share with us please! otherwise we are all taking wild guesses...)

It also helps to know what engine you are talking about - for example 2 bearing or 3?

What 'work' did you do on the camshaft and bearings?

Have you had any of the big end caps off and if so check you have got them back on the corresponding rods and the way round they came off.

John Mason.

To the best of my memory.
Only fitted the two front gears.
Also camshaft plus bearings.

If the nose cone is still off I'd remove the crank pinion and try turning things. This will tell you if it's the camshaft or the crank that's locked up.

Further to what John said, when tightening centre main bolts and big ends they should be done half-tight then given a good tap on the side to jog things into place before fully tightening. Failure to do this can result in binding. Also if centre main is not in line, tightening the c/m fixings can pinch the shaft.

How about the gears on the end of the camshaft and crankshaft, have these run together before?

Have you overtighetend the nut holding the camshaft gear on it's taper?

You really need to remove the camshhaft to do this job properly, if the gear pulls up onto the bush it will jam everything solid...

You're not the first person to have done that Tiger! Glad you got it sorted.
