Yesterday I returned home after the PWA7C Yorkshire Group Cumbria Run. This started on Thursday from Masham and took a scenic run through the Yorkshire Dales and the Trough of Bowland to a two night stay at Crooklands near Kendal. The following day was a free day which I used to visit the Haverthwaite steam railway at the southern end of Windermere. I also took in Strawberry Bank and Tow Top Plantation, two severe hills that were used in the reliability trials of the 1920's.
The return journey back to Boltby was a delightful run across the Yorkshire Dales, the roads being quiet before the weekend bikers ventured out. The 1931 RL saloon performed very well averaging 39.2 mpg and using about a pint of oil and a similar quantity of water on the trip.
