Andrew- I think anything off white definitely looks the part; I used a cream. So go for it!

I agree - I used Dulux New Cream for my plates, and I thought they looked just right:

The Special was guest of honour at our local car club dinner this week, each month one of the members brings their car along and the venue allows us to drive into the dining room so lots of interest and I was given 10 minutes to indoctrinate the masses (that's not me on the microphone).
