Hi, 

I'm replacing the lip seals that have been fitted to the rear axle of my Ruby, back to felt ones.
Do they have to be oiled or fitted as they come.

to be immersed in melted lard, specifically kidney fat. Yet another Austin part available at Tesco! When its cool it is solid and wont fit, when it's hot it burns your fingers and is messy. Why jettison the lip seals?
