Smoker Hatch roof construction
#1
I think it very likely but wonder whether someone could confirm it, is the Smoker Hatch roof assembly basically the same as the Sliding roof assembly (I'm talking RP here)

Here is an extract f the relevant part of the drawing on the Archive web site...

Thanks Chris. I am sure they will be of help to my pal. What I was really trying to ascretain was, is the fitting process of the frame the same? With the sliding roof version, there is also an additional mounting aspect that has the running rails screwed through the top metal plate of the roof insert. That must add a little to the strength of the construction. That will be missing on the smokers hatch version, of course, and do we think that just the upward screws though the lower plate are man enough for the job or did the factory do anything different?

Coo, now you're asking...

Only thing I can add is this picture of one which has obviously been worked on - but if I'm reading it right at RHS it is sitting on top of the "angle iron" arch above the windscreen in much the same way as a sliding roof version. So I'd venture all the same from below, at least.

I'm obviously guessing now, but as the fixed roof has no need for tracks or the front baffle strip, I surmise it would have been flat metal strips all round, bedded with mastic in to the front body recess in the same way as at the sides. Hope someone will step in who actually knows...

I imagine a good bet would be Martin Prior, it is likely he has produced the woodwork for one.
