Blue
Red / Black

Hi

The Blue is the common input to the switch. If you are using the commonplace Lucas 31284 floor mounted dip switch (as per Morris Minor etc) this goes to the terminal nearest one of the fixing bolts. It doesn't really matter which way round the other two go, as the switch just toggles from main to dip them main again etc.

It's rather unlikely, but if you have an original Austin dip switch (small diameter button) they aren't rated at sufficient current to drive headlamps directly, as they were used to drive a dipping relay.

Thanks John,
that helps and yes it is the standard Lucas dip switch.
