1930 Chummy at Auction Next Week - Steve Jones - 01-12-2023 I haven't got the space and I'm too old now for a restoration but if that wasn't the case, I'd be very tempted by this https://www.brightwells.com/timed-sale/5376/lot/666738?returnUrl=%2ftimed-sale%2f5376%3futm_source%3dBrightwells%26utm_campaign%3d1e3697fcb6-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_09_18_09_58_COPY_01%26utm_medium%3demail%26utm_term%3d0_6fb153b9d2-1e3697fcb6-217941265 Looks very solid and is pretty much all there the only bits missing looking to be some script wheels, a correct windscreen and a correct carb. A good buy for someone although at less than estimate perhaps. Steve RE: 1930 Chummy at Auction Next Week - Alan - 01-12-2023 Yeah, me too RE: 1930 Chummy at Auction Next Week - Tony Griffiths - 01-12-2023 Interesting. Apart from the bits already mentioned, did anyone else notice the banana-shaped steering tube and wonder what sort of prang caused it? In consideration of the present "price crisis" one wonders what it might command - £5000? RE: 1930 Chummy at Auction Next Week - phillips - 01-12-2023 Hi all has anybody seen the 1929 "chummy" in classic car auctions lot No 133, no reserve, Estimate £5,000-£7.00. sale Sunday the 9th December RE: 1930 Chummy at Auction Next Week - Tony Griffiths - 02-12-2023 (01-12-2023, 08:17 PM)phillips Wrote: Hi all has anybody seen the 1929 "chummy" in classic car auctions lot No 133, no reserve, Estimate £5,000-£7.00. sale Sunday the 9th December https://www.classiccarauctions.co.uk/1929-austin-seven-recc31818-2-warwick-1223 RE: 1930 Chummy at Auction Next Week - Steve Jones - 02-12-2023 Of the two, I think I'd stick with the one at Brightwells. Rather more honest, at least from the photos of both. The rot at the bottom of the scuttle at either side on the yellow one would be a concern. Steve |
