Description
The perfect barn-find coachbuilt Austin; super-rare and super-original; remarkably sound and running and driving; definitely not for restoration...
Built in mid 1929, this Gordon England Stadium is one of just eight original examples thought to have survived and was unearthed from a rundown shed in Pennsylvania, USA.
Quite what it was doing there we do not know, but the shed was behind what had been a Serivce Station back in the day and the Triple A signs on both doors of the car may lend a clue (American Automobile Association). Quite what a diminutive car like the Seven was supposed to do with a broken-down  Packard we can't imagine, which may account for its incredible condition - unrestored and in remarkably well preserved, unworn order .
In fact the only elements that appear to have recieved attention are the seats which have been retrimmed and some work to the wiring. Other than that it appears totally original, with its factory original red and black fabric covering and aluminium bonnet.
The vendor has repaired the original and rare P&H windscreen wiper and fitted four new tyres for safety and it is now UK registered BF 9987 - the vendor believing that it was probably exported new to the US, possibly as a Motorshow car but who knows....
If you are into your baby Austins, this must be the ultimate barn find and looks very enticing at the modest estimate.
Running and driving while onsite - we simply love it....

I’m amazed they still turn up! If my wife bought it for my birthday, I would implement a programme of preservation to try to ensure it doesn’t deteriorate further, because I would be driving it!

It is a valuable reference, renovating it would be a crime, in my view.

I think this is Chris Garner’s car, he recently re-imported it back to the U.K.

It’s quite well known and documented, the car had some work done to the seats by a previous owner.

Another one-family owned, from new, Stadium turned up in Scotland Recently, it is not as complete as this one but a similar condition.

I haven't seen it in the flesh but I know a man that has and he tells that it's wonderfully original and that serious restoration might well spoil it. Tony's question sums it up perfectly.

A bit like the fabric saloon that turned up inPortugal some while ago. It requires conserving rather than restoration.

Restoration is conservation, conservation is restoration. 

Vinyl upholstery fabric, 2K paint, powder coating, flashing indicators, unified and metric fasteners, modern electrics, etc. are neither.
