Ruby floor mat - Anne Griffiths - 23-07-2021

Does anyone have good photographs of the original rubber floor mat that covers the transmission tunnel around the handbrake on a Mk1 Ruby?

RE: Ruby floor mat - charlie carpenter - 23-07-2021

Peter Naulls has reproduced excellent tunnel cover. I have 2 on Ruby and Cabby and I am delighted with them.

Ooh, thanks for that info.

RE: Ruby floor mat - Ruairidh Dunford - 23-07-2021

Peter is no longer able to supply these, which is a great shame.

Hi

Not a photo, but there's a line drawing on Page 25 of the Austin Publication 1521 body parts book :

Anne,

Here is the part but as Ruairidh says it's no longer available I'm afraid.

Peter.

Anne, Like you I'm looking for a Ruby floor mat for the gearbox, but have not found one. I have however purchased 1Mtr of ribbed rubber mat from Woolies and made one that is a little better that the steel cover you could see before.

RE: Ruby floor mat - Anne Griffiths - 27-07-2021

Ah, yes, now I remember how it used to be, 40 years ago (though nothing like as pristine as your example).
Thank you for the photo. Now I find myself wondering whether I could get a pattern made in order to get a few reproduced..... or am I just wasting my time? Still, nothing ventured nothing gained.

Thank you..... that's very interesting.... I've not seen a parts book before.... fascinating.

RE: Ruby floor mat - Mike Costigan - 27-07-2021

Is this a project suitable for 3-D printing?

RE: Ruby floor mat - Peter Naulls - 27-07-2021

I'm sure they could be printed. Whether they could be done for a reasonable cost I don't know, certainly there seem to be more suppliers every time I get something done. I do generally find that it is size rather than complexity that determines the cost, and you pay for resolution (so a rough finish is cheaper than a good finish).
