Can someone confirm the orientation for mounting the ‘29-‘30 type starter motor. Logically the terminal should be pointing downwards but this means it’s quite close the side of the gearbox and the dust cover clamp is very close to the gear lever...

Don't actually have this type of starter on my special, but all the contemporary illustrations I have seen show the terminal facing downwards - i.e. nearest the starter switch
