In reply to your observation elsewhere.
Decades ago with a lot of short runs my car was plagued with sludge but would not expect it to be a problem now unless there is a leak and/or using a quaint non detergent oil. Mayonaisse in the filler tube and valve cover is often a symptom of water leaks. See
recent about thermostats. Can blank off radiator for short runs.
