1930's Longbridge - Chris KC - 03-04-2020

Hard to know what people have seen and what they haven't, but there's some smashing traffic at the end of this (silent) clip:

Intriguing. Especially the lack of goggles even when pouring molten metal. Many of the machine tools would have been made in UK.
What comparable is made today? Little wonder girls married early. Some of those repetitive jobs would drive you nuts. I recall when cash pay was phased out at work. Some blokes were very concerned that their wives would now learn their true wage.
I wonder what would have happened if a discerning worker turned up in a Ford or Morris? The sensible practical upright bicycle with mudguards very much in evidence.

You might all be interested to have a look at the Archive collection of films here - http://archive.a7ca.org/collections/films/ and scroll down to one entitled 'Signing Off' You will see marked similarities. It makes me wonder whether the Huntley film was the raw material that the promotional film was made from.

Is that a GE Cup at the end with natty screen deflectors and wrap-around rear wings?
