Oil capacity rear axle - Ken Morton - 30-07-2019 I know it has been on the forum before but what is the recommended filling capacity of a 1927 rear axle? Ken Morton, Vancouver./ RE: Oil capacity rear axle - AustinWood - 30-07-2019 I put 1/2 pint in. The official capacity is 7/8 pint I believe but it tends to find its way along the axle tubes into the hub and onto the brakes. RE: Oil capacity rear axle - Chris KC - 31-07-2019 Personally I fill till it starts to dribble back out of the filler hole, wait till it stops dripping and put the plug back in. RE: Oil capacity rear axle - JonE - 31-07-2019 on old axle with possibly not good seals, I've been putting about 275ml, so yes, about half pint for safety. But will need checking more often if axle leaks! |
