Lucas headlight problem - PedigreeChummy - 02-07-2019

I'm not sure if this is outside of the expertise of this forum, but can anyone tell me what I did with the two brass mounting nuts and the split washers for my headlights when I took them off at the weekend? Huh

You put them in a safe place!

If I lose something the best way of finding it is to start tidying up and the lost item miraculously appears, the trick to finding something is not to look for it. Good luck.

Search the internet, order two more and just after you fit the new ones, the old ones will turn up.

At least you have put them somewhere safe and not lost them!!

I always ask my son in law, who ( I don't know how he does it) finds whatever it is, just under my nose.

Seriously, though, I find that running through what I can remember of the day- usually in a quiet time about 2 in the morning - as in:

"What was I wearing?   What did I do next?   Who was on the phone to distract me?   Where did I go next? ……."

Often supplies the missing items.

Lots of good advice here; it never ceases to amaze me how helpful this forum is  Big Grin

Mark's method works for me every time.

I have a pile of old hub caps which I use as 'bits' trays. When I dismantle anything, all the displaced parts including the fasteners are put in the hub cap. Just make sure you don't upset it!

My problem is tools. I put them down and then spend the next half an hour looking for that that spanner/ screwdriver that I had five minutes ago!
