RE: Side ventilators - Reckless Rat - 21-01-2019

I saw an RP once with the vents on back to front. I don't know if that was by design or by accident, or for that matter whether they worked any better. Mine are painted, but black, contrasting against the body colour. Not original I'm sure but they've been that way for a long time.

When I bought it my RM had polished brass ventilators mounted the wrong way round. My first job on the car was to paint them and refit the correct way round!

OK then I have to ask...do they open to extract or to scoop?!

Hi Mike & DH, on my 1932 RP The brass side vents are open at the front (presumably scoop).Right or wrong ??

RE: Side ventilators - Dave Wortley - 22-01-2019

My RN has been in the family since 1936 and has always had scuttle vents opening to the rear.

RE: Side ventilators - Smiley - 22-01-2019

Hi DW,  Opening to to the rear could well be right.  That would make more sense than "Scoop" especially when it's raining.  Maybe have to turn mine around.

I seem to remember that a can of beer fitted perfectly in them as well. Pre dating the cup holders of today by many years Smile
