Registration numbers in order - morrisminor - 14-01-2019

I've been doing some research into my Ruby CTT 290 and came across a list of numbers in order,  it's interesting to see the variety of cars.
CTT 289   Austin 7.8
CTT 290   Austin 7.8
CTT 291   Morris 8
CTT292    ?
CTT293    ?
CTT294     Bedford coach
CTT 295    Austin 10
CTT 296    Austin 10
CTT297      goods
CTT298     Morris
CTT299     Standard 12
CTT300      Ford 8
CTT301      Bedford
CTT302      Lanchester 13.4

Good variety, any idea what the 7.8 means for mine  ?
TT is Lynton and Lynmouth, North Devon
April 1937

According to the DVLA Database, the 1937 Ford 8 CTT 300 is taxed until April 2019 - the rest return 'vehicle details could not be found'. You'll have to pay a visit with your Ruby to the Lynton and Barnstable Railway in North Devon, although the railway would have been closed for 18 months when your Ruby was first registered. The L&BR is now gradually being rebuilt.

Can I ask how you are able to attribute TT to Lynmouth and Lynton? I thought registration letters were only assigned to whole counties rather than towns.

Peter.

I presume morrisminor must have been to the Devon Archives & Local Studies Centre - they apparently still hold the record cards for TT Devonshire registered vehicles from 1934 to 1974. The record card for CTT 290 might possibly have given the address of the supplying dealership as being Lynmouth and Lynton ? Perhaps morrisminor will let us know.

I've got a copy of the Devon records and it says next to CTT 290, Lynton, I think it was Prideauxs garage there . I have a record from 1973 saying it was in Dorset from then on. One lady school teacher owned it for 38 years dying in Poole in 1975 . Sold for £100 then. It's amazing what you can find out

Very interesting. These little snippets of information add so much to the appeal of our cars.
