Nice work Nick.

Today I drained the petrol tank of my Ruby which I had filled up in preparation for Autokarna, but did not attend in the car as it was not running properly. It yielded some dusty, rusty, silty particles, but surprisingly little. Considering replacing fuel pipe from tank to pump. It was covered in underseal in places and I spotted a damp patch at one point in the length that is unlikely to have come from the torque tube or the gearbox. Four hard to get to pipe clips seem to be holding it in place. Lying on my back with nose pressed to undercarriage and restricted arm movement is not my idea of fun. That will be the next job, but I need to be in the right frame of mind first. Wishing I had a car lift and a high garage roof. Blush

Just put the Ruby away having used it as everyday transport for several weeks. 800 miles covered in the last month, 1200 since April. My modern (Skoda Octavia) finally gave up the ghost so the Ruby came to the rescue. I've really enjoyed using it like this (it's been a long time since I relied on a Seven) but the weather has been relentlessly wet. Now my "new" modern has arrived the sun has come out!

Just been out to the Co-op again this evening - no drama.  However, the car has been back on the road 20 years today.

Hi All

After fitting the empty crankcase, nose cone and block into the new special I made some simple brackets and mounted the radiator cowl.  Body building can now commence!

Cheers

Howard

Joined over sixty other Sevens (well, that includes a few larger Austins, too) on the PWA7C Lincs Area's 50th Anniversary Run.

Had a great day out yesterday too at the Lincs group 50th celebrations meeting up with friends old and new and seeing some lovely cars - this despite the Nippy deciding to snap its oil pressure gauge feed pipe and depositing all its oil across the road near the castle. It looked quite dramatic but, after a bag of sand; lots of wiping up the mess all over the car and managing to get the union bunged up everything was back to normal and the car ran beautifully once again.
Thanks to my dad who lives close by and who was able to do the necessary work on the union so that I could complete the run and return journey back home.
At least the liberal coating of oil covering me helped to keep the torrents of rain off me whilst I batted up the A1!!

The annual Hare & Hounds Classic Car Club charity run to Buxton - this year in aid of Peak District Music Centres, an organisation that provides ensemble experience and lessons for young musicians. Heavy rain shows and an eclectic mix of older and newer vehicles. One box saloon had an unusual carburettor arrangement - a Ruby unit feeding, via a right-angle adapter, into an updraught manifold.
