Have had to use the A7 special on shopping duties as our modern has decided following our return from holiday to kill its battery. So we sent Amy and my teenage son to hunt down a battery. All fixed now but less time in the shed today working on the old stuff due to unreliable modern. On the plus side it did need a test drive so went and collected some parts from storage at my parents and now have a pile more bits ready for the new engine build

Tyres down to a scientific middle pressure of 23" for testing  It is interesting to read various views. Seems to be the opposite of 2CV tyre pressures which can be indicated as the old fashioned Michelin X low pressures but every 2CV owner I know and myself runs at 28/30 psi. Handling excellent and no uneven wear. I am not offering to experiment with Toyo radials on the Ruby. Meanwhile, to escape the sun, a brief return to the workshop. Is the appearance improved,  or will it  attract disproval from packs of air filter anoraks roaming the lawns?

That’s looking much better but it seems to be a very small aperture mesh… 0.5 mm wire with a 1.8 hole is what I use IIRC

Steve, if road imperfections at 30psi worry your, you should try beaded edge tyres at 50psi, particularly round bumpy corners with no shockers...

Run my Ruby on Longstone’s at 28psi and have no issues, tried lower pressures but the steering felt very heavy, much better at 28??

Hey, maybe I should be more frequent on this forum! This is my special that I've built myself many years ago.

I recently fitted the cowl I found at Beaulieu.

So what's most recent? Well, I did get an oil leak just here, it was the dynamo housing that had worked the bolts loose, I fitted a new dynamo last year so probably the reason. Tightened up again and seems ok. Fingers crossed!

Took the Seven into Bala for some shopping, then over to Llanuwchlyyn to get some chick crumbs (Leon has some day old chicks that have just hatched). Then I took the car up to the forest at the top of Bwlch-yr-Eira to give Llew The Motoring Dog a walk and then back to feed the horses. About twenty miles covered in all.

Hi All

With blazing sunshine all week and predictions of over 30 degrees at Moreton I’ve been slaving away making a hood for the Brookfields.

I finally succumbed to SWMBO who has had a soaking on a couple of occasions.  However the windscreen on the car dictated a gap between hood rail and glass so I’m expecting some more complaints before too long. A test drive confirmed that a hood makes the car a lot more noisy, but it did stay on as we hit 50mph.

Looking at the forecast rain is expected on Wednesday next week so the hood may have its first real test on the way to Prescott.

Cheers

Howard

Howard, a bit to the South of yourself it is raining vigorously at the moment. Power tools and washing had to be swiftly taken inside.

I love that hood Howard, it gives a very period aspect. However I'd be a bit concerned about blasts from oncoming HGV size vehicles. Is there any way you could curve it down towards the pretty windscreen corners with a stay?
