I'm expecting to save the stauffer also Ivor. The shaft and cam would probably go again if you were desperate. The rest of it is daffy ducked.

I blame that Rat chappy, he started it I believe, all 387 pages of it! What was it they used to say "Get a couple and 'appen they'll breed"?

Look, I plead guilty, but it doesn't matter. I'm always in the sh*t, it's just the depth that varies.

Just been getting the RP ready for a run out tomorrow morning to the monthly classic assembly at the Alès Pôle Mecanique (race circuit). Apparently they had 230 cars there last month so I'll make one more tomorrow (couldn't get in Feb due to family commitments)

There's a shot of the RP somewhere on here: https://www.cevennesandcars.fr/

I took the RL to the monthly meeting at the Punch Bowl near Boroughbridge.  The roads were mostly dry and appeared to be salt free but the lanes near Boroughbridge were still part flooded and muddy after the recent heavy rain.   Filled up with Tesco Momentum at 160.9p per litre but I put it on my card so it didn't hurt as much!
Mine was the only pre-war car at the meeting but there was a 1970's Morgan and a superb Mk 1 Escort Mexico.  The owner was an ex rally man from Ripon and we seemed to have so many mutual friends we wondered whether we might be related!
Some rain on the way home but the car ran nicely and the steering feels good after its recent 'seeing to'.

Punchbowl, Marton cum Grafton
I arrived about 12.40 with my seven but few cars and no-one to be seen. I had a busy day so after spending 15 minutes answering my phone I moved on.

Note the green Corsa in the background. Twenty years old.

First local run out this year for essential beer supplies in 'Felix' the Ulster rep.
Spent far too much time fettling over the last 3 months trying to get the Solex MOV 30 right.
Many thanks to Robert Foreman the Solex guru for all his help and patience.
I hope to compete in a few hill climbs and sprints in the near future, once i have put a few more miles on the engine.

The picture with the Escort Mexico brought back memories.
The EB65 in my garage was towed home behind my mothers 1972 Escort Mexico.
In 1982 the Austin was twice as expensive as the Mexico.
Today the Mexico would be worth twice the value of the EB65.
I ended up buying the Mexico from mother and it got killed by a horsebox driving past while it was parked up.
I woke up to drive to work and found the side of the car had been cut open and there was a bit of angle steel stuck out of the petrol tank.
I still managed to drive it to work and back using a gallon fuel can as a tempory fuel tank.

The RP, not having been out for three weeks, and it being a decent day, yesterday afternoon, I decided to give it a run up to the top of Bwlch-y-Groes and back. It went very well. Got back, changed the engine oil  whilst it was hot and started to give it a service and check over ready for the first proper run of the season with the Meironnydd Classic Car Club on the 17th.
