RE: Cup in a Box - resurrected from the old Forum... - jansens - 12-05-2019 Congrats R! I know how it feels. Today I drove my special for the first time. After nearly 8 years working on it! Simon RE: Cup in a Box - resurrected from the old Forum... - Howard Wright - 12-05-2019 Absolutely fabulous (the pink running boards) The cup looks good too! Well done Ruairidh. We may (very tentative) be in Scotland around rally time and I would love to pop in just to see the Cups! Your voting scheme for prizes will really be for Cups this year!!!! Try general Motors Pulsating Primrose... P.S. That's an impressive rate of progress in the last twelve hours. It was nice to see you all - I do hope your journey home was okay. As you will now know - having time on my own projects is a very rare thing and I tend to make the most of them. I had my friend help me yesterday, which was invaluable - thank you Charlie! Howard - everyone is very welcome, I hope you come. RE: Cup in a Box - resurrected from the old Forum... - Mike Costigan - 12-05-2019 (12-05-2019, 01:09 AM)Tony Griffiths Wrote: ... That's an impressive rate of progress in the last twelve hours. I was about to say something similar. When Tony and I saw the car twelve hours earlier, there was no radiator, lamps, wings, instruments, registration plates; in fact never mind about seats and carpets, there wasn't even any floor! RE: Cup in a Box - resurrected from the old Forum... - Chris KC - 12-05-2019 Great work Ruairidh! I can just imagine how it feels taking her down the road for the first time. RE: Cup in a Box - resurrected from the old Forum... - Ruairidh Dunford - 29-05-2019 The Cup is off for her big op. on Monday night - she's getting her bonnet clipped and her wings repaired, plus a lot of other little and no so little things that need to be made/fitted and then painted. I grabbed an hour tonight to fit the front and back bonnet trims, will add a couple of the wire clips to the front tomorrow... RE: Cup in a Box - resurrected from the old Forum... - Ruairidh Dunford - 01-06-2019 Having completed this on Thursday... ...I awarded myself some time on the Cup again today. I made up patterns for the windscreen glass and took them to the glaziers to be cut. A friendly Forum member contacted me about the gearbox I had and offered to swap it for one with the correct selector orientation - I gratefully accepted (thank you Gary) and today removed all the floor before lifting the gearbox off the engine and fitting the other - there really is great space for doing this in the Cup! Tony's ad/retard quadrant arrived and I was able to fit it neatly in place - thank you Tony! I then started to clip in the wiring for the rear lights and hope to complete the rest tomorrow - I am really enjoying just looking at the car just now - sorry, it's been a long time coming and I like the way it has come together! RE: Cup in a Box - resurrected from the old Forum... - AllAlloyCup - 01-06-2019 Hi Ruairidh Your Cup runneth over! It’s looking great and will soon be Motoring to Guildtown! Regards Bill G RE: Cup in a Box - resurrected from the old Forum... - Ruairidh Dunford - 01-06-2019 Lots of little time consuming jobs that you will be familiar with Bill. RE: Cup in a Box - resurrected from the old Forum... - Nick Turley - 03-06-2019 Looks a great job and now at a very exciting stage. Go for it. |
