Hi All

Being completely in awe of Charles’s engineering skills I’m a little hesitant to display my modest work over the last few days.

However, here goes…..two spacers and six extended registers/lugs so that I can fit 4 x 18 Longstones on the Special without them scraping the body to pieces.  Next job is to fit extended studs to the bearing carriers.

Interested to hear how you get on. 
I have 4 x18 Metzeler "K block" side car tyres on mine, which are pretty good but a smaller OD than the Longstones

I have long fully threaded 3/8” bolts that I was going to weld to the back of the carrier and grind down for clearance.

Those spacers are exactly how I did it for my old trials special, Howard. Like you, I ground down the heads of some long 3/8" BSF bolts and welded them to the back of the bearing carriers.

What have I done today with my Austin Seven? Answer: gave it a good wash, as it was rather travel-stained. After that, I wnet over to see my friend Gerald and his wife, as it was her birthday today. Stayed for about an hour and then came home via 'The Bryntirion' pub, which used to be my 'local' until it changed hands late last year and was promptly gutted and has not long reopened having been completely refurbished. I wasn't going to stop, but outside the pub was parked a 3 litre Bentley, so I did. It turned out that the Bentley is owned by the chap who has bought and refurbished the pub, which rather explains the new motoring themed decor, but I didn't get to meet him.

Anyway, photos of my trundle (as we all like photos), taken with the primitive Kodak that lives in the car's glovebox:
