RE: New Ruby owner - Tiger - 10-04-2018 Many thanks for all your replies. HOWEVER LOOKS LIKE I HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM. Looking at four of the body mounts the right hand side of the body is sitting 1inch too high. No fixing bolts are fitted. Tried jacking the left side under the running board channel but with the wheels lifted no improvement. Wondering what to do now ? Regards Tim RE: New Ruby owner - Martin Prior - 10-04-2018 (10-04-2018, 05:42 PM)Tiger Wrote: Many thanks for all your replies. Hi Tim. I'm trying to picture this. Are you saying that when you jacked the body up, the chassis lifted with it, despite the lack of bolts? Can you post photos of the problem? RE: New Ruby owner - Tiger - 10-04-2018 Martin Thanks for your reply. My A7 has been disassembled recently I would say badly part reassembled. I am trying to assess what needs doing. I guess some body bolts are fitted not sure how many there are. My comment applies to the mounting points near the front and rear of the running boards. I will send pictures ASAP Regards Tim RE: New Ruby owner - Martin Prior - 11-04-2018 (10-04-2018, 08:29 PM)Tiger Wrote: Martin OK, Tim. The great thing is, don't panic. Someone on this forum will have encountered and solved the same problem. NOTHING on an Austin Seven is terminal or un-fixable! RE: New Ruby owner - Bryan - 11-04-2018 EHi Tim, hope this may help with bolt locations RE: New Ruby owner - Tiger - 11-04-2018 (11-04-2018, 08:13 AM)Martin Prior Wrote:(10-04-2018, 08:29 PM)Tiger Wrote: Martin Martin So very pleased to receive your reply, chassis to body problem. Just going to photograph the underside. Also take some measurements of body to floor dimensions Regards Tim RE: New Ruby owner - Tiger - 12-04-2018 Hello people Further body to chassis problem. On closer inspection the right hand side of the body is about 3/4 inch higher. Front and rear mounting bolts are fitted front both sides but not central ones. I am thinking of removing all mounting bolts in an attempt to centralize the body. I couldn't get the pictures to upload and hope this explains the situation clearer. Regards Tim Bryan Many thanks for the picture it is a great help. Is the gap just at the outriggers, or is the body not sitting flat on the main chassis rails? Do the doors fit properly? RE: New Ruby owner - Tiger - 12-04-2018 Yes the floor has recent repair the complete flat section is replaced. This part is sitting on the chassis rails. Gap is on o/s front outrigger. Both doors good fit . Also windscreen good fit with even gap to body opening. PS rear o/s outrigger not fitted. Regards Tim Martin Forgot to mension both body rails under each running board have been replaced. Welding to this repair is poor. Your photos would be very useful - if you can't upload them directly, can you email them to me at buildingsbespoke@btinternet.com? I'll see if I have any more luck, but I'd be very interested to see them |
