  The history of your car
Posted by: Robin Oldfield - 02-02-2021, 01:41 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (23)

I am sure I'm not the only Seven owner who would like to chronicle the history of their car but is thwarted by lack of documentation or beaurocracy enhanced by Data Protection Act consequences etc.  Without encouraging people to break the law has anyone wormed their way into 'old' data for this perfectly legitimate reason?   Original registration records if they still exist can be wonderful - I know my 1934 Tourer FO 3040 was first registered to Radnorsdhire County Council but after that I know virtually nothing.  Even our most revered clubs are not always forthcoming - I believe my car was owned 15 or so years ago by someone in the 750 club but I have had no success approaching their officials as everyone seems frightened to give personal information away even if not held on computer and even when membership lists were freely available to other members at the time.  Very frustrating.

  Adhesive for genuine Rexine.
Posted by: Dave Wortley - 02-02-2021, 12:44 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (18)

Has anyone used Rexine? I have a friend who has found a roll of new old stock Rexine which he is going to use on his 6” braked Boulogne special. Woolies would be my first option but there is probably an expert on here who has the experience.
Cheers,
Dave.

  Seat belts in a Tourer?
Posted by: Peter Arnold - 02-02-2021, 03:14 AM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (23)

I would love to hear member’s thoughts on the pros and cons of fitting seat belts to my ‘36 Tourer. After so many years of feeling the comfort of a seat belt I am finding the lack of seat belts a trifle disturbing.
Cheers, PeterA.

  Early dipstick
Posted by: Douglas Alderson - 01-02-2021, 07:42 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (4)

As we are posting about dipsticks, I though I would add this to the mix.

I came across the two early dipsticks, they are both unmodified and judging by age look original but as you will see in the photo different length above an below the fill line, I did ask in our local club if any one new why, but no answers.  Any thoughts?

Rear facing starter & 4-speed box
Posted by: dchw1975 - 01-02-2021, 06:01 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (12)

Hi,

Is it possible to fit a 4-speed box onto a coil engine with rear facing (non-bacon slicer) starter? or would you have to put a smaller modern starter in place rather than original?

Cheers

David

Where is it now? Austin 7 Ruby AAP 650
Posted by: NJB - 01-02-2021, 03:25 PM - Forum: Forum chat... - Replies (1)

Whilst idly trawling through 'stuff' as one does during lockdown, I came across a photo of my old '36 Mk2 Ruby. I typed the registration number into the DVLA vehicle tracker site and found to my amazement that it is currently taxed and on the road. It doesn't figure in the AA7A register of known chassis, so I thought I would post a picture of it here in the hope of being able to provide photos and some history to the current owner. Here goes...
