Chassis shortening
#11
Thank you all for you replies which have been enormously helpful.

Bryan has done a very fine job with the splicing; beautifully executed with so much room for error. A chassis jig would certainly be necessary. The finished result is excellent. However, chopping off sections from the rear of the chassis rails is apparently a lot more straightforward and simple to do and I like simple. Just a question of making up axle mounts and shortening the longitudinal member.

Probably not but that's what stretched limos are so I suppose if done properly they have to be sound. If I do shorten the chassis it will be chopping off the ends because that is much simpler and I'm all for an easy life.
