Alternative crank bearings
#31
Hi Folks,
Just to refresh this thread, I have just had a quote for the Terry Tuned bearing set up !! ( Don't Ask )
I am going to go ahead and order them.
My current Alan Crank set up has the standard bearings and will happily rev past 6500 Rpm, I do not use less than 2500 Rpm as it boggs down !
Engine is sweet at 4000 and above. ( my fuel gauge failed years ago and now has a rev counter in its hole in the dash )
New Engine is having a Hadley Crank and rods going into a Nippy Crankcase hence the interest in Terrys bearing choice.
I have used twin track self aligning bearings at the rear in the past which lasted until the camshaft oil pump gears went ping and bits of teeth went into them.
I am going this route as the Hadley crank will make the engine a lot smoother. ( Apart from the fact that I have lusted after one for years )
I do all my own engine build work apart from rebores and valve seats and surface grinding !
Its only just over 40 years since I first built a 7 engine.
