Insurance Renewals - Smiley - 28-07-2023

I have been trying to contact RH to renew my insurance ( which is
due on August 1st) to no avail.
In desperation I have got a competitive quote from Hagerty.
Has anybody had a bad experience with Hagerty.
Smiley. Huh

Hagerty have been very good and their prices were decent. They answer the phone and do what they promise, which is a fair baseline.
That said, I haven't claimed, which is of course the acid test with any insurer

Whilst RH can be slow to answer the phone I have never, ever failed to get through.

What number have you been using?

Smiley,

Re RH, you need to contact Emma Airey - Head of RH Specialist Vehicle Insurance direct regarding your insurance renewal - her email address and her posts feature in recent threads on here about members various insurance renewal issues - I believe she has been very helpful in resolving many if not all of these issues. She can also be contacted via the Facebook 'Austin Seven' private group page.

See this thread below which includes her email address:

Same here, I called this morning and the phone was answered within two minutes. Confirmed a few details and all done.

I have another classic insured with RH that was hit by a deer in June and the claims process was similarly very smooth. RH allowed me to find my own repairer and they then dealt directly with them.

RE: Insurance Renewals - Chris KC - 16-08-2023

This week I renewed my A7 insurance with RH; the premium has increased by around 10% since last year, which made me sigh briefly but didn't seem outrageous. It's still a good price to insure three vehicles & with breakdown cover thrown in. My renewal was dealt with courteously & professionally.

Today I received a renewal letter for my "modern" (2001) car from Direct Line. They have hiked my premium by 40% since last year with no clear reason. I made an attempt to negotiate but spent 15 minutes swearing at a computerised voice & enduring pop music before being put through to someone in India, who insisted that was the best price they could do, and who promised I'd get a call back from her manager (which never came). I got a price for TPF&T cover which was still 30% more than last year's fully comp premium. I picked up the 'phone to RH and they (again, courteously and professionally) offered me fully comp insurance for a little less than DL's TPF&T quote. It's still a rise on last year, but as they are throwing in Europe-wide breakdown cover I can cancel my RAC policy and win all round.

RH gets a thumbs-up from me...
