A facebook post confirmed that the A1 tags have no hyphen before the car number/chassis number.
A3 tags have a hyphen before the car number.
I'd be interested to know when the change came about. Could someone with an A2 car confirm what shows on the plate?

A2 Car number plates have a hyphen.

thankyou! So they must have realised early on the ambiguity about prefix and suffix, and waited until the start of the A2 series to address it, unless others have evidence of the hyphen in later A1...
