Speedo - k8207418 - 19-08-2022

I’ve acquired three speedos but not sure if they are suittfor a standard Mk2 Ruby
As the numbers are different
Is there a parts list anywhere I can refer to ?
Thanks

Hi

The one you need should have 1040, which is the number of turns per mile for the speedo cable.

RE: Speedo - k8207418 - 19-08-2022

So the mankey one then…

Can they be converted ?

RE: Speedo - Nick Lettington - 19-08-2022

the number is turns per mile, and this may vary depending on tyre size, gearing etc...

As the gearing inside the unit is based on turns per mile, the trip meter and mileage recording will be wrong, not just the speed.

If the manky one works, you could remove the bezel and face from one of the other two and fit the insides of the 1040 speedo into the case, although it may be worth looking to see what the other two are from (Series 1 land rover and/or 30's minor possibly?), selling them on and looking out for a better 1040 TPM speedo.

Yep
Thanks I will have a think

I seem to remember seeing a device that fits in the line between speedo and drive to calibrate a Speedo
Or perhaps that’s just wishful thinking

I would use the manky one and enjoy the patina of age!

I don't thing speedo ratio adaptors are commercially available but several have made their own.
This is mine which works very well.

Easier just to swap the face and hands with one of the others.

RE: Speedo - Jeff Taylor - 20-08-2022

I believe Speedograph Richfield and Speedy Cables will make up speedo ratio adapters - though I imagine they'll be expensive. I agree with Austin Wood, easier and much cheaper to swap the face and hands. There's a variety of watch / clock hand removal tools available on ebay.
