Ruby carb jetting change running on SWB? - JonE - 19-12-2021

Has anyone found that the Ruby sidedraft Zenith has benefited from different jetting when running on a smaller lighter earlier car? Would be interested to hear any experimentation.

Sounds unlikely.

Hi Jon

My opinion (and it is just that) is that carb set up is fully dependent on engine characteristics and not on the weight of the car!

Cheers

Howard

Hi Jon, I ran a three bearing motor in a Chummy for years on the standard Ruby jetting and it ran perfectly, with a good plug colour and excellent fuel consumption.

If it ain’t broke...!

Exhaust sytems affect optimum jets . For some reason unobstructed sytems seem to run more rich. Side exit possibly represent such. My RP feell from 50 to 40 mpg when a lightly baffled silencer fitted.
