Holden bodies - Chris Garner - 05-09-2020

I'm sure our antipodean friends will be able to answer this.
I recently had occasion to work on and drive a 1928 Holden bodied Chummy.
I noticed there was a join in the body work just beneath and slightly fore of the door. Is this where Holden joined their body to the Austin scuttle?

Chris, if you check out the photos in the Gallery, it would appear as if the join is under the door, approx a couple of inches back from the hinge line.

Chris this is where the aluminium scuttle, probably english, meets the Holden steel tub.The aluminium suffered terribly on our local roads and was often replaced with steel, retaining the overlap, as is one of mine.

Thanks both. I did wonder about the steel / al. interface!

1928 Holden bodied Chummy: see the vertical line below the door just behind the hinge.
