I think you'll regret using ptfe tape on fuel unions. In my experience it will be a stringy, leaky, mess in a week or two.

It was a replacement 26VA from eBay together with copper crush washers and red Hylomar that finally did the trick.

Thanks again for all the suggestions, I've used pretty much all of them Smile  This forum really is a very useful resource.
