More storage restoration - Tony Betts - 24-06-2019

Hello all,

After a few people saying how they enjoyed the last shed rebuild. I thought why not let you all in on THE BIG ONE.

I've never had a chance to fully sort out the spares shed problems since I split the business with wayne. And that was when the twin towers few.

Can't remember how long that's been, I'm guessing near 20 years.

So take a guess on what sort of mess we are in.

And the buildings have also suffered.

Here are some pics of the scale of the problem to be sorted.

Well as you can see, things pile up when time to sort thing out are short

And yes, when you need space. You fill the rafters.

[attachment=6923]

The overspill has had to go into the garden, as the container rental got to expensive.

So you can see some of the scale of the problem?

In pic three you can see tins trapped in from my first collection of automobilia.

Things need to change so I can extend the already over full micro museum.

But that's a problem for the winter.

Things are already of to a good start with many job lots being listed on the old ebay thingy.

This is the end of today's effort.

Outside cleared around the doors.
One end of the doors cleared.
And the boxes piled up from the container are already going down.

A good day.

Tony.

Oh my Glory! And I bet you knew where everything was before the tidy up, but won't be able to find it afterwards. When I tidy my workshop up, which is much smaller, I find "convenient" places to put stuff, and then can't find it when I want it.

Dear Tony
Many thanks for that, in an idle moment and considering inclement weather that has stopped me doing the task I was going off to do I shall start clearing garage and my spares shed in order that I can start achieving again (and sneak in the bits Mrs Orthoptera does not know are coming). Again thanks for the inspiration!

Tony,

You've been busy!

Have you come across any Chummy sidescreens?

Regards

Alan

It's comforting to here I'm not the only one with storage problem.

For this restoration is one end of the barn.

The problem of clearing things out extends far part this.

Here's some of the future problem ?

Well, this is going slower than I had hoped.

Rain stopped play for a wile, and I got stuck into the trays more today.

But as you can see sorting is a slow process.

No wonder I put it of so long.

Tony, looking at your first picture, I'm trying to work out which seven came with it's own built in fruit machine...see you at Beaulieu! Tongue

RE: More storage restoration - Tony Betts - 28-06-2019

Hi Ivor,

Well spotted, there's a lot more than just austin 7 stuff in there.

And yes I used to collect and restore vintage slot machines.

At one stage my collection was over the 100 machine mark.

I've now sold around 70 machines, and to the austin 7 worlds gain. This is were the money has come from to restore most of my sevens.

I have kept a few of my most favourite, around 15 machines. Pic of some below.

The parts you see are for the 15 or so I have left to restore and sell, so I have some money to finish the last two cars.I don't know we're im gonna get the time from to do this. But here's a pic.

RE: More storage restoration - Tony Betts - 03-07-2019

Got to admit, as usual this build has hit a bit of a time snag.

I DONT HAVE ENOUGH OF IT.

I've had to stop and get ready for 750 beaulieu.

And today the real bad new came in.

Two weeks ago I ordered a new sports garage ? The only available delivery date was 6th August. So I took it. And now I can't get anyone to sort out the base.

So now as well as disasembled the old garage, I have to take time to rebuild the concrete base, all in time for the new sports garage.

Then new gates have to go up.

I have taken a little time were I can to keep clearing the barn though.

Pic below.

Tracy keeps asking, found anything interesting yet.

Well there was a serprise when I moved the paraphin bath.

There are parts in there, I put in to soak 5 years ago.

They should be about ready to work on now.

IF I HAD TIME Big Grin

Sorry to those interested in our project, for things moving slowly.

It's been hard to find time this week, catching up after beaulieu.

We had a good go at some trays today, and emptied the rest of the shelves.

Found an interesting petrol locking cap with lock and key in box, by DESMO. For austin cars.

Here's a pic of the barn emptying out.
