hm they look like a good idea for next time.
given that the banjo thread is M11 do you use a tight M10 (does that even fit) or a sloppy M12 or something imperial?

cheers
Andy

RE: Rubber washers - Andy Bennett - 27-04-2019

I use imperial ones Scott - see here for example: https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/362103952469?chn=ps&var=631319352903

I also use them for scuttle tank fuel joints and SU banjos.

RE: Rubber washers - morrisminor - 27-04-2019

Thanks R, what size would I need and do you use sealant ?

RE: Rubber washers - Ruairidh Dunford - 27-04-2019

Hi Scott,

1/4 BSP, if your banjo union bolt is that size.

I don't use any sealant on this type of washer

RE: Rubber washers - squeak - 27-04-2019

Ah sorry there I was thinking you meant the carburettor to manifold joint. My mistake.

RE: Rubber washers - morrisminor - 27-04-2019

I'm not very imperial Ruaridih, if I've read it correctly you measure the thread diameter which is half inch then subtract a quarter inch,  leaving quarter inch hence quarter BSP ? Does that sound about right,  think I should have gone to school 15 years earlier !!

RE: Rubber washers - Ruairidh Dunford - 27-04-2019

I am no better qualified to tell you this Scott, metrification came in way before I was born - many on here will know for sure though.

I am fairly certain however, that the standard banjo union bolt is 1/4 bsp.

RE: Rubber washers - "Slack Alice" Simon - 27-04-2019

Apologies for the late reply.

I use the locking goo that is for the lightly loaded components like ordinary nuts and bolts.

Not "Stud Grade" or "Bearing Retainer", these achieve successively stronger bonds.

You don't want a strong bond, just sealing of the joint.
