Talking of Gordon England - Rob Hanauer - 13-03-2019

Has anyone come across one of these before?

RE: Talking of Gordon England - AllAlloyCup - 13-03-2019

That’s an interesting clock. Is it made by Smiths?

Rim wound or rear wind( with swing out case)?

Regards

Bill G

It winds on the the little knob sticking out of the rim which also adjusts the hands if pulled out a bit.
It doesn't look like any of the more normal Smiths clocks that I have come across in the past.
Was it produced for Gordon England Saloons? Or as an extra available for discerning customers to add to their dashboards?

Swiss Made at bottom....
beautiful.

Rob,

perhaps it may have been fitted to something like this?

Wow. That's a thought.
Have you ever come across one on the dash of a Seven?

RE: Talking of Gordon England - Ruairidh Dunford - 13-03-2019

I personally have not but somebody may have - it is certainly an interesting item, is it yours? Do you know any history to it?

More GE bodied cars here: https://gordonenglandregister.wordpress.com/other-gordon-england-bodied-cars/

RE: Talking of Gordon England - JonE - 13-03-2019

The three clocks in three GE Saloon dashes I've seen in photos all have no rim knob... and a prominent logo underneath the centre of the hands. If anyone has a close up picture of Bernard Griffiths' Sunshine dash from a car show, I suspect that may reveal the logo...

RE: Talking of Gordon England - Rob Hanauer - 13-03-2019

It came from a family who owned Rolls-Royce motorcars primarily. I'm pretty sure they never had a Seven but you never know! I bought it last year.
