GE Register photo album - AllAlloyCup - 15-02-2019 9DBC3A1C-EFF1-487A-8BFE-C24C039CC555.jpeg (Size: 87.54 KB / Downloads: 283) While checking out some door handle details on Ruairidh’s excellent GE Register (LINK) I came across a pile of interesting NZ Cups Plus an unusual photo supplied by Geoffrey of a Cup with a puncture parked on the pavement at Buck House. No guardsmen in sight but a few Bobbies as the driver In the pouring rain uses a screw jack to change a rear wheel. The car is slightly modified in that the headlamps appear To be bolted to the wings, rather than the radiator cowl. Not seen that before? No sidelights either? Last few made? Great photo though, Thanks Geoff. Regards Bill G Aka AllAlloyCup Ps I wonder if they would let me recreate the scene? - RE: GE Register photo album - Ruairidh Dunford - 15-02-2019 Bill, I am confident that the last of the Cup Models were fitted with R47s, flat sterringwheel and a full piece windscreen similar to the Stadiums, this also appears to be the case for the Export models, see here: https://gordonenglandregister.wordpress.com/export-cup-models/ Cup Models were produced into 1929, see here: https://gordonenglandregister.wordpress.com/2015/12/15/ge-bodied-austin-sevens/ Both posts you mention were only uploaded today (Ross' pictures show a mixture of Export and traditional Cup Models), those who are interested in such things can subscribe to new posts on the site here: https://gordonenglandregister.wordpress.com/ If people link to the site, rather than uploading a photo from it, then it will help alert people to it's existence more. Everything on it has been freely given, shared and credited when known. RE: GE Register photo album - Timothy P - 15-02-2019 Brilliant photo, I dare say you'd draw an even bigger crowd now trying to recreate it. I hope you don't mind Bill, I had a play with your post to make the photo a link to the page on Ruairidh's site, and put a link in with the text too. The photos of cups in NZ are lovely, and while we are going link crazy, here's another GE Cups in NZ RE: GE Register photo album - Steve Jones - 15-02-2019 What a tremendous photo, Bill. Imagine if you could reproduce that situation now. It would be news worldwide! Steve RE: GE Register photo album - AllAlloyCup - 15-02-2019 Hi folks I’d hadn’t realised the photo posting was so recent. Thanks to Timothy and Ruairidh for adding the professional looking links. I suppose a puncture can happen anywhere? They wouldn’t shoot now would they? I also have a period photo of a Monte. Carlo rally TR3A parked at the gates of the Palace at Monaco , strangely I once knew the Consul for Monaco in Edinburgh, plus the woman( lady!) who worked at the desk next to me in my last job , was related to that Royal Family and they had holidays at her home in Arran She thought she could have fixed that recreation but getting my TR to Monaco would have bust my Austin 7 budget! I’m always amazed at the number and far flung locations that GE Cups got to ! Regards Bill G Ps hope this drives some traffic for Ruairidh RE: GE Register photo album - AllAlloyCup - 16-02-2019 “My other car is a TR3A” No Austin’s in this link sorry... Still looking for the period Palace photo Bill G https://www.tr-register.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/45047-monte-carlo-rallye-historique-poseurs/ |
