When do we decide the ultimate fate of bodywork like this ?   When we think the time has come, should we make it known to this and other forums that its on its way to "Car Heaven" ??

LOL, there was I was thinking that it was a half decent body!

Me too!

I've had another interesting day dismantling all the bits, removing numerous bolted & pop riveted patches to reveal quite a sound body. It's in a lot better condition than the running RN I rebuilt 20 years ago which needed a new top to the scuttle, a new OS windscreen pillar, new bulkhead, new floor and sills. Here's a photo of the two roof supports fitted to each side of an RN and an unusual modification to the drivers door window winder assembly.

Been out for another tootle this afternoon. Between where we live and Alès is a place called Rousson. Not famous for much apart from it's where Laurent Blanc the former captain of the French football team comes from. At one end of the village is a huge limestone outcrop, called the "castellas", which looks a bit like the Devil's Tower in Close encounters of the third kind.

On the far side of the outcrop, about 100m below the crest is a 12th Century church, which is accessible by road. The views are quite impressive. To the East you can see Mont Ventoux, and to the West the Cévennes:

From here you can park up and walk to the summit, where there is a statue of the Virgin Mary.

All the times I've passed here there's never been anyone about, apart from those in the cemetery. They might not be best pleased that they're there, but at least they've got a decent view.

Those photos look good Reckless, much better than struggling with a rusty body. Today I have managed to unscrew the sunshine roof stops, a previous owner just levered the sunshine roof off. I've also managed to extract one bonnet side hinge pin.

The South of France is full of interesting places. A bit like Wales for that.

I did nothing nearly so exciting. Took the Seven down to Dolgellau to get its new tyres fitted in preparation for a run out to Whittington Castle near Oswestry next Saturday.

I had no idea that worn tyres had so much rolling resistance!

PS. Reckless. Why does your car always look so immaculately turned out on a run? Mine always ends up looking as if its been on a rally.

I drove the Lambda to lunch today and made a stop at the Noojee trestle bridge, built in 1919 burnt down in 1939, rebuilt same year, railway line closed 1954 and now it is part of a "Rail Trail". On the other hand the Lambda was built in 1925 and although it has been rolled over, it has not been burnt.

Nice. Both of them.

Final scouting for Hereford Speed Trials resulted in finding that a good block and proper radiator avoid any overheating whilst sitting in wholly umoving traffic for a very long time. A four door 1100 was spotted, and a car probably one of the most rare and unusual in the country. Yes, an Allagro in VDP trim complete with extra chrome and a pretend fabric roof! Does this share a garage with any of the Hereford Austin Seveners? The only photography possible can be added to the growing gallery of railway pictures, this loco designed neither at Horwich nor Swindon.
