Not A7 but my son in law has just taken the newly restored Land Rover out on his own for the first time. I told him to give me a ring if there was a problem. Just waiting......!  Thought of taking the A7 out until I saw all the black ice and the two smashed cars and police cars and ambulance on the nearby A57.

I scraped the scum off the top of my Vinegar pickling bath and gave the contents a brush then put the bits back in for a few more days.
I have three side draft manifolds with vacuum take off and a 1933/34 cylinder head that my father threw away in the 1980s , I found them by treading on the bits in the scrub circa 1990 and rescued them. Now living in 20 Litres of White Vinegar and starting to clean up.

Happy Christmas to all Seveners

If the weather is not too bad I might do a few laps over the Tamar Bridge in the 65 ( Its Toll Free on Christmas Day )

RE: What have you done today with your Austin Seven - David Stepney - 25-12-2020

Christmas day dawned clear, bright and frosty. Just the day for taking the Seven over the mountains to the horses! The roads were a little icy and there had been a sprinkling of snow on the moors, so the journey was taken carefully. By the return journey, both the ice and snow had gone in the morning sunshine.

The bridge at the bottom of Bwlch Yr Eira..
This needs a certain amount of care! Narrow and on a blind bend!

Very little traffic about, but I was overtaken on the way out at some speed by a Renault Scenic. A mile or so later, I saw it parked with the driver (with a festive red Santa hat) standing out side waiting for me to pass with smartphone in hand to take a photo of the Seven as it passed. He passed me again a few minutes later on Bwlch-y-Garreg, again at some speed and disappeared from view. Given the treachery of the roads, I hope he arrived at  his destination safely!

Later, my nephew and his wife came over for Christmas lunch and I took my nephew out for a spin in the Seven round the lanes.

All in all, a better Christmas than I thought I was going to have.

RE: What have you done today with your Austin Seven - Reckless Rat - 11-01-2021

Been a while since I had a run round the southern Ardèche so with the weather fine and the roads dry, I gave the RP its first outing of 2021, a nice little round trip of 39 miles. I stopped outside the stone merchants to take another photo next to the old Peugeot pick-up, which is still there and still surprisingly showing little or no signs of vandalism (the dash instrument panel is missing but that may be by design). Since I posted the original photo in 2018 this thread has attracted over 250 pages of posts totalling over 2500, with over half a million views! (and it was only meant as a bit of fun) - Here's the old pick-up:

A bit further down the road, in a little village called St Sauveur de Cruziers, I stopped off for fuel, but there was a problem as the pumps haven't seen action for quite a number of years...

I have put a sheet of cardboard to blank off the bottom half of the radiator. It's still parky down here despite the clear skies and sunshine, and the 4 blade fan doesn't help with a quick warm-up.

Just under 400 miles completed since last oil change. Oil still clean and no discernable consumption. Over 3000 miles now since engine rebuild. Bedding in nicely.

Reckless,
just take the fan belt off. Been doing it for years when the weather is cold.
  Best wishes,
                          Robert.

Thanks Robert, I'll give it a try. I was cogitating (they can't touch you for it) on the possibility of making some kind of clutch between the fan and the pulley that could be controlled from inside the car but I've decided it can stay in the "too hard to do" drawer.

Hear hear! An inspired thread and a great piece of film, that cheered me up on a particularly dismal morning.
