Tonneau Cover - 73pgsmith@gmail.com - 18-04-2018

Gentlemen

First, I would  just like to say a big THANKYOU to Peter Naulls and Colin Dawson for their help in providing photos and advice on this forum for my Ruby interior questions.  Also, what a marvellous piece of kit this forum is - enabling dopes like me to contact people who have such extensive knowledge, experience and information.

My query this time is :- I'm looking for a classic vehicle upholsterer to make a tonneau cover for my Ruby based special.
Any recommendations within striking distance of Stamford / Peterborough please ?

7trimming looks just the ticket, but is based in Ilkley, which is a bit far.

Thanks
Peter Smith

I assume you have been / spoken to these guys who must be on your doorstep.  They are suppliers, but must have a list of those who can.

Bob

Yes, thanks, I got several tel nos from business cards on Woolies noticeboard.  But, like plumbers when you want one, I could not find anyone interested.  Some don't answer the phone or messages, and one gave a price unseen of £1000 plus vat.
So I thought there must be some satisfied customers who have had similar work done and would be happy to make a recommendation. Or perhaps not.........

Peter

Peter, I towed my tourer from the Isle of Wight to Ilkley because he is that good.
Jon.
Have you tried Tracy of 7 Counties ?

Hi Peter,

Maybe you can ask Gail Vicsai for a quote. She does mostly Austin 7's.

Her facebook page is: https://en-gb.facebook.com/GJ-Upholstery-Vintage-Car-Trimming-615527271854212/

Don't you mean Gail Hodgeson

I bought a hand-driven sewing machine from a charity shop (£15 back then) and nicked a leathercloth drawing board cover from the office, a packet of lift-the-dot fasteners and you're away. Has served me well enough for over 30 years now... There's not a great deal of sewing.

Thankyou Gentlemen.  That's an excellent reference for 7trimming, and Gail looks very professional too. I'll call Tracy at 7counties as she is nearer.  If not, then I shall have to drive and stay over for one or two nights.  I have also added these names to my list of suppliers and specialists.
